Clinical Psychology Debra Hauser, Ph.D.
Specialties: Grief, Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders

Introduction

A relief from suffering is the first goal of psychotherapy. Learning what one thinks and feels is the second, which not only helps to understand one's life but also allows one to feel more fully alive in the present. I believe in the talking cure - that is, through exploration of one's life with a trusted psychotherapist, past hurts, disappointments and trauma can be healed. One can then act more freely and not be as burdened by the past. Psychotherapy, while, at times, can be sad or difficult, offers not only a relief from suffering but facilitates greater happiness through better relationships, greater vitality and creativity.
