Introduction

My name is Dena and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri. I received my Undergraduate degree in Psychology from Saint Louis University in 2007 and my Master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University in 2010. I have direct clinical counseling experience in a healthcare setting. I operated as a lead counselor in an intensive outpatient setting working with children, adolescents and adults providing individual, group, and family therapy. Additionally, I worked in the Intake Department where I gathered information and assessed individuals for the proper level of psychiatric care. In this role I also provided community resources and referrals. In addition to my work in a healthcare setting, I worked in a private school setting where I helped to prepare students academically, socially and emotionally. I communicated closely with parents and specialty teachers to assess each child’s educational and developmental needs. I helped to evaluate their school readiness as well as determine if a child has delays in development, and encouraged and monitored students’ social interactions among peers and staff. I have experience working with a broad range of severity and clinical issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, family issues, comorbidity, and substance abuse. Working collaboratively with individuals is my priority throughout treatment. I utilize a blend of theoretical approaches and interventions that are goal-oriented, with a strong emphasis on building a supportive therapeutic relationship. In addition, I focus on identifying each individuals’ strengths and coping skills. My approach is one that is supportive and validating. I provide a therapeutic environment that is safe and non-judgmental. It is important to me that my clients feel heard and understood at all times. I am looking forward to establishing a collaborative and valuable relationship that provides you with the support for positive change.
