Introduction

Have you ever said “ I will never drink again” only to find yourself hours later drinking? Do you feel isolated, alone and misunderstood? Do you find yourself stuck in the same patterns of behavior and unable to break free? Is it hard to take a pause, slow down, be present? Are you having a difficult time handling the struggles in your life? Are you hesitant to talk to others about your problems? If you’ve been feeling hopeless or lost lately, or struggling with a problem in your life that feels unsurmountable, therapy could help you improve your everyday life. There’s no denying that life often presents us with our fair share of challenges, usually in the form of sudden change. These life transitions, even the positive ones, can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused, and vulnerable. But with the right tools and mindset, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself. Change, even difficult change that is neither wanted nor expected, can influence personal growth. Change gives us the opportunity to see what we’re made of; to become stronger, more confident, and better prepared for what life throws at us next. With each new challenge, we develop new personal skills and obtain a greater awareness of ourselves, our families, and our communities. YOU have all the solutions and answers to what you might be struggling with, but sometimes we can get stuck in old patterns of thinking and acting. An outside perspective can help us gain understanding and develop new skills to cope with past and current stressors. I strive to create a space free of blame or judgement and instead focus on curiosity, emphasizing strengths, self-care and compassion. I use an eclectic person-centered approach to therapy. We are all unique and one-size doesn't always fit all. I work from a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach and I draw from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Positive Psychology to support my clients and continue to pursue training in order to provide the best possible experience for my clients. I consider myself lucky to have been given the opportunity to live in Africa, Brazil, and France. Having been exposed to such vastly different cultures, religions and languages, I found myself drawn to and fascinated by the study of human behavior and the role that culture plays in day to day interactions. In an effort to learn more, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Boston University. After taking a detour from my true passion, I made the decision to go back to graduate school and obtained my Master’s in Science with a dual specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling & Marriage, Couple, Family Counseling and Therapy from Barry University located in Miami, FL. I can work with individuals in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida (telehealth only for Florida residents). Mondays - Wednesday 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Thursday 8:00 am - 1:00 pm Please contact me to schedule a free phone consultation and to check availability. I will send you a pre-screen form to fill out prior to our call which will help identify any potential obstacles to working together.
