Through my career I have narrowed my field of focus to the things I know best. As a former hospital and psychiatric social worker, I learned a great deal about the connections and stressors of mental illness and also medical illness. Through my work in gerontology and as a woman of a certain age, I’ve also learned a lot about the processes of aging. In recent years, we’ve all learned our rapidly changing world can result in increased stress, anxiety, depression, or other significant mental or medical illnesses. These serious changes can have a profound impact on us. They can make it more difficult to handle the day to day stress in our lives or an existing condition we have successfully managed in the past. Please know that help is available, and you do not need to navigate these challenges alone.
