I'm sure you've asked yourself, "why am I in this situation?" or "why do I feel this way?" I know I have. I've had my own experience with wondering why.... and one of the many reasons I became a therapist was to better understand what "normal" human behavior really is. I strive to provide as much psychoeducation to my patients as possible. I am not the “smile and nod” type of therapist. I work to also answer the question of "how." How do I start to feel better?" What do I need to do?" I will work with you to develop concrete skills to get you feeling better and enjoying what life really has to offer. I practice both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (focus is on challenging unhealthy thoughts) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (focus is on emotional regulation). These treatments are evidenced-based practices that have been proven time and time again to effectively treat various types of symptoms and situations. I work with individuals to improve their relationship with themselves and with others. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and bipolar disorders. In addition, I work with patients to improve communication and assertiveness skills amongst many other issues.
