Diana Chen, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist currently in private practice in NYC. She has enjoyed a distinguished career in community mental health for over 20 years and is now returning to her first love working as a therapist in the private sector. Her own personal background of growing up in NYC and having been raised by immigrant parents influenced her chosen career path in psychology. She wanted a profession to help people. By forging a nontraditional path that confronts the common stigma against mental health, Dr. Chen offers shared experiences in a warm accepting environment that allows people to voice their thoughts and feelings openly without fear of disapproval or rejection. She made significant contributions in her long career in the public sector. She worked at Woodhull Hospital for several years and then at Gouverneur Health in multiple roles as therapist, supervisor of psychology trainees and staff, and Director of Asian Bicultural Clinic, a specialized mental health clinic for monolingual Chinese-speaking clients, and for the last nine years as Director of Psychology. In addition to her extensive clinical experience working with diverse cultural groups, she also implemented innovative policies and service delivery systems to disenfranchised undocumented groups.
