Throughout our lives, we often find ourselves in the position of the caregiver, whether as a parent, a spouse or adult child of an ill or aging person, or simply as the person who has assumed the responsibility of being "the rock" for others. It's a wonderful gift to have such a compassionate heart and the strength to help carry the ones we love when they need it! But sometimes, we are so caught up in taking care of others that we let our own needs go by the wayside. So I ask - You do so much for others, but who is there for you? I have worked with caregivers throughout my career - first as a home care CNA and, since 2019, as a social worker. Whether you want a non-judgemental place to talk or problem-solve, an empowering self-esteem boost, or someone to kindly or playfully call you out on those less than helpful thoughts, I'm here to help. As someone who has been "the rock", coupled with my work with caregivers and care-receivers, I empathize with hyper-independence, worrying about the "shoulds", guilt, fear, anger, self-doubt, the whole shebang. If you'll let me, I'd love to help refill your cup or help carry your load. I can't take it from you, but I'll walk with you every step of the way.
