Looking to explore tough questions? Wanting or needing change? Seeking a warm but challenging therapeutic environment? Schedule an appointment with me. I understand it can be difficult to find time for therapy, so I offer evening and weekend appointments. You can choose to meet with me for in-person or online sessions. I work with many clients who have experienced trauma, as well as those struggling with addiction, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideations, or compulsive behaviors. I frequently work with active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, as well as with those in the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to working with adults, I also work with kids and teens. Prior to entering the field of counseling, I was a teacher. I worked in K-12 education for 10+ years. Upon joining the counseling field, I worked on a child and adolescent unit at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. I am skilled at working with kids and teens, and I love working with them. My primary theoretical orientation is motivational interviewing, a therapeutic approach centered on helping people move through the stages of change so that they can live the life they truly want. I frequently pair this with techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy. Underneath my theoretical orientation is a person-centered approach. I believe the therapeutic relationship is important, as we must build trust together so that we can do challenging work. Whether you’ve been in therapy before and are perhaps looking to do more intense or challenging work, or you’re looking to try therapy for you or your child for the first time, consider making an appointment with me.
