I am a licensed mental health counselor, who has been practicing since 2010. I graduated from Capella University with my MS in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to that I attended Western Washington University where I got my BA in Psychology. I have worked in a group practice since 2012. Previous experience includes working with adults/adolescents/children in community mental health, school settings, children’s residential treatment, crisis intervention call centers and domestic violence shelters/outreach. My approach to therapy is based on an evident based cognitive behavioral model which helps individuals learn how to cope with and overcome struggles through addressing the connection between the mind and body. I believe knowledge is power, therefore I tailor my approach to each individual by utilizing education to help one understand what they are experiencing. We then work on skill building to address the situation(s) along with emotional regulation to learn to cope with the intense feelings that may arise which may be negatively impacting one's life and relationships. Of course, this is mixed with the right amount of encouragement to help bring about change. I work closely with each individual in a collaborative manner to help the individual/family get the support they need in difficult times. I enjoy working with all ages (12+) regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or differing personal beliefs. My goal is to help each individual get on their path of healing so they can reach their full potential and enjoy life to its fullest. I look forward to being your guiding star in this healing process. In my spare time I enjoy exploring the great PNW with my 3 dogs and husband of 20 years. I have 3 young-adult children and have enjoyed learning from them and encouraging them. My family experience has helped me become a better therapist as I have had to practice my own coping skills to deal with the anxiety and the stress that comes with parenting three strong, independent, and unique individuals. I enjoy a variety of hobbies such as reading, walking, yoga, camping, piano, pickle ball, acrylic painting, crafting and spending quality time with family and friends.
