Hi, My name is Donna Davis. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Private Practice. My office is located in Platte City, Missouri. I choose Platte City because at the time, there were no therapists within the community and I wanted to highlight and promote Equality to this area. Specifically, I wanted to work with kids who had "behavioral issues" such as truancy, aggression, defiance, and inappropriate sexualized behaviors. Before Private Practice, I worked in a non profit community agency providing individual, and family, group therapies and crisis interventions. I have a Masters level Counseling Psychology degree from Avila University with a corresponding certificate in Child and Adolescent Counseling. Over the course of my career and education, I developed a strong desire to work with the LGBTQIA+ community. That work led me to begin studying Transgender topics and learning more about it. The more I learned and worked with Transgender identifying people, the more I found that my strongest passion for this work was in helping people to love and accept them self's for who they are and not for who people want them to be. In this, I have helped many people find their own defined happiness, whether they choose to transition, not transition, or de-transition. Believing In Yourself is Key. My work with Clients combines aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Expressive Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy. I provide resources, psychoeducation, and a safe place to process problems and find healthy solutions. This can be done both In-Office and Virtually through the Client Portal.
