Doug and Jenny Sorensen

LCSW, LPC, CSAT Doug Sorensen & Associates
Specialties: Addiction, Aging, Alcohol Use, Anxiety, Attachment Issues,

Introduction

We work with men and women whose struggles with addictions, anxiety, depression and relational issues have continued or worsened despite their best efforts to change. These symptoms all have one thing in common, they are maladaptive coping skills. Seeking help for an emotional problem, facing a relationship issue head-on or acknowledging behaviors you've been trying to control are now controlling you can be the first step in getting un-stuck and living the life you are meant to live. We know a thing or two about what it takes to sustain a healthy and happy relationship! As a recovering couple ourselves we are passionate about helping people. When we started our respective recovery journeys, over 30 years ago, we both just thought we were inherently flawed. It wasn't until our trainings in Pia Mellody's family of origin work and Adverse Childhood Experiences, did we truly begin to understand the impact of attachment wounds and toxic stress on the developing brain and body. In addition to our clinical licenses we have extensive trauma training and are trained in Brene Brown's shame work. Jenny has been trained in Gottman Couple Therapy and we are both Certified Sex Addiction Therapists (CSATs).
