Introduction

You might have awakened with good intention and feelings. You might end the day having faced some challenges and enjoyed some experiences. This was a day of personal effectiveness. Not all days are like this. I study how the conscious mind develops and functions in adults. This is where experience forms. It can be favorable to our well-being or detrimental. Being able to discern these contradictions in favor of enhancing one while modifying the other can be a daunting task. To paraphrase the wisdom of Dogen Zenji: "We learn to see with better eyes and think with better thoughts". One of the positive results is the ability to put choice between impulse and behaviior. Another is to deal with difficult feelings and pursue a favorable path. I have 37 years of clinical experience since receiving a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology.
