Introduction

Dr. Joy is the founder and owner of Joy Family Center, an organization he established with the mission to build a mental health practice with top-notch clinicians in a warm environment while utilizing evidence-based treatment - a place where people would feel like they were treated like family. Dr. Joy embarked on his academic journey at Michigan State University, majoring in psychology. His pursuit of higher education led him to Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where he earned his Master's and Doctoral degrees with honors and served as Vice President of his class. Further enhancing his expertise, Dr. Joy completed postdoctoral work at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and the Fraser Center for Autism in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Joy engages with a diverse range of clients and issues, adeptly handling various diagnoses typically encountered in outpatient settings. He frequently assists individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, relationship challenges, substance use issues, and those seeking to enhance their overall quality of life. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Joy is the President of Restoring Hope Collective, and an executive board member of Face Addiction Now in Washtenaw County. In these roles, he dedicates himself to assisting individuals and families battling substance abuse, facilitating access to recovery resources, and reducing stigma around substance use disorders. Dr. Joy is committed to supporting those on their journey toward a healthy, sober lifestyle.
