INTRODUCTION Welcome to my practice, where healing and growth are facilitated through a solution-focused, client-centered, and compassionate approach. I believe in fostering a collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel empowered and supported on their journey towards well-being. I understand that seeking help can be challenging, and I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where clients can feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their concerns. A LITTLE ABOUT MY BACKGROUND I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in 2000, laying the foundation for my extensive career in mental health. With over 25 years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY17942), I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including community mental health centers, college counseling centers, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and adolescents from diverse backgrounds. The majority of my career has been dedicated to clinical work with first responders and their families at The Counseling Team International, where I am committed to serving those that serve. Here, I've had the opportunity to provide psychotherapy and comprehensive support to individuals, couples and families in high-stress environments. In addition to my role as a therapist, I have conducted critical incident stress debriefings to assist individuals and groups in coping with traumatic events. I have also performed pre-employment psychological assessments for law enforcement personnel and led various training sessions and educational workshops. In this capacity, I've gained profound insights into the unique needs and challenges faced by first responders and their families. This experience has deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the importance of tailored interventions to support individuals in demanding roles. INTRODUCING EMDR THERAPY I am proudly certified as an EMDR therapist, specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This transformative approach harnesses the power of the mind's innate healing capabilities to address a spectrum of psychological challenges. EMDR offers a structured and evidence-based framework designed to alleviate distress stemming from past experiences. Through techniques like bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements or tapping—EMDR facilitates the reprocessing of these memories, enabling individuals to integrate them in a more adaptive manner. This innovative therapy is not just about coping; it's about empowering individuals to heal and thrive beyond their past experiences. EMDR therapy has been proven effective in treating: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Anxiety Depression Relationship issues Self-esteem and self-worth issues Performance Anxiety Performance enhancement Phobias (fear of flying or of a medical procedure) Stress-related disorders Grief and loss Chronic Pain Addiction INTENSIVE EMDR THERAPY In recognition of the transformative potential of EMDR, I am excited to announce that my practice now focuses exclusively on EMDR intensives. These intensive therapy sessions offer a concentrated and immersive healing experience, allowing clients to make significant progress in a shorter period of time. EMDR intensives provide an opportunity for clients to fully immerse themselves in the therapeutic process, leading to accelerated healing, increased resilience, and a renewed sense of empowerment. Doing an EMDR therapy Intensive can provide the results that usually take months or even years of individual weekly sessions in just a few days. INTENSIVE EMDR STRUCTURE -Initial Consultation (15 minutes): Call with clinician to determine fit and readiness for intensive EMDR treatment. -Intake assessment. During this initial 90 minute meeting we will discuss your history, symptoms, and treatment goals. We will also discuss unpleasant beliefs, memories, emotions, body sensations, or images from which you are seeking relief. -Customized treatment plan. A typical intensive program will include up to 6 therapeutic hours scheduled over two days within 1 - 2 weeks where we will use EMDR reprocessing to lessen the effects of unpleasant memories, thoughts, or feelings for which you are seeking relief. -Post-treatment interview. This 90 minute session scheduled 2 to 4 weeks post treatment will evaluate your success in achieving a healthier thought process and support your ongoing recovery. FEES The cost of an EMDR Intensive is more upfront but significantly less overall than committing to weekly therapy. -$300 per 60 minute EMDR Intensive Therapy hour. Reduced rates may be available through inquiry. Insurance does not cover the costs, as intensives are not part of coverage plans. Consequently, clients cannot submit claims to insurance. CLOSING THOUGHTS Being a therapist is more than just a profession to me—it's a calling, a gift, and an honor. I consider it a privilege to sit with individuals in their darkest hours, their struggles, and their moments of triumph. Witnessing the resilience and courage of my clients as they navigate their healing journey is truly humbling. My greatest joy comes from seeing them emerge stronger, more empowered, and more connected to their inner strength. It is a profoundly meaningful experience to be a part of their process, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them on their path to healing and transformation.
