Before conducting therapy, my first profession was teaching. I taught at the University of South Florida, and Jungian Psychology was integrated in with my teaching of Comparative Religion. This was also a focal point for me in Graduate School. I have studied and researched it on a personal level since the 90's, so for 25-30 yrs. In life, we follow certain rituals and/or myths. Sometimes those prescriptions need to be revised to find wholeness; other times, we need to rewrite the script & create new ones. I'd be honored to support you on your journey. Also, I have gone through a lot in my life. There are times when I didn’t know if I’d ever be ok, or even survive, but eventually, taking it day-by-day, step-by-step, I did. I fought through having a broken heart (many times actually), being a single mom, getting through school & arriving at the point I’m at today, speaking to you right now. I've lived life. Dr A Alvarian Therapy Model (ATM) Everything I have learned in my life; everything that has proven to be true, as tested by real-life experience, goes into my therapeutic model-based on my own experience. The Alvarian Therapy Model utilizes inspiration, and motivation, to awaken the human spirit; it helps us get back in sync, or in touch with, our fiery survival instinct, or intuition. ATM always follows the best interests of the client. It is person-focused, but goes deeper, as it is guided by where the fire is; by the individual's drive in the present moment. Unlike traditional arts expression, the process of creation is emphasized rather than the final product. The expressive therapies are based on the assumption that people can heal through the various forms of creative expression. It is a style of therapy generally considered helpful for anyone wishing to develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Jungian therapy calls for clients to delve into the deeper and often darker elements of their mind and look at the “real” self rather than the self they present to the outside world. When It's Used Jungian therapy can help improve the lives of those with depression, anxiety, grief, phobias, relationship or trauma issues, low self-esteem, or other emotional problems. It is also appropriate for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of themselves and is willing to make a commitment to the work involved in acquiring that knowledge. What to Expect In addition to talking, your therapist may use various techniques, such as dream journaling and interpretation, and creative experiences likes art, movement, or music, to encourage self-expression and release your imagination. Your therapist may also try word association tests, wherein the therapist says a specific word and records how long it takes you to respond with the first thing that comes to mind. Your response time can indicate emotions and issues you connect to certain words. Depending on your situation and the agreement you make with your therapist, you will meet for regularly scheduled sessions, one or more times a week. How It Works Originating in the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung early in the 20th century, Jungian therapy focuses more on the source of a problem than on the manifestations or symptoms. Jung believed that an individual’s repressed experiences and memories, in combination with what he called the “collective unconscious,” or natural traits that affect everyone, result in an imbalance between conscious awareness and the unconscious mind that has a detrimental effect on one’s emotional life. In analysis, one must explore the deep-rooted causes of relationship problems and blocked emotions to achieve “individuation,” or wholeness. If one tries simply to relieve the symptoms, the issues will not be resolved and are bound to resurface. The success of Jungian analysis depends on the client’s commitment to regularly scheduled sessions and intense work. ~~~~~~~~~~ Sliding Scale Pricing Many therapists offer sliding scale pricing to assist clients of all incomes. The PTSD of abortion is called PASS. No matter your philosophical, religious, or political views on abortion, the fact of the matter is, the actual experience can affect women not only on a personal level but can potentially have psychological repercussions. Women’s reasons for having an abortion are always highly personal, but it’s important to remember that some women might choose to have an abortion after experiencing rape at the hands of a stranger or someone they know. Conversely, at times women may feel compelled not to follow through with a pregnancy under pressure from a husband, boyfriend, or family member. In any case, it is usually thought of as a solution to stressful circumstances.
