I feel privileged when I am invited into your life to share in your pain and suffering in order to try to help you understand, heal and grow from the emotional wounds and trauma you have experienced. I believe our relationship is one between two equal individuals who will work hard to help heal and understand your wounds. We will be travelers on the journey of healing together and both be changed by our time together. A good therapy experience offers opportunities to learn important things about yourself, to acquire helpful life skills, and to integrate both the past and present to achieve a much better quality of life. As an individual, I believe you have the ability to understand and implement the changes you desire; only you are ultimately responsible for deciding the direction or course your life may take. I am a fully licensed clinical psychologist with 30+ years of experience. I received a Bachelor of Science in psychology, with honors, from Michigan State University in 1980 and Masters and Doctoral degrees from Central Michigan University, in 1987 and 1993 respectively. I completed an internship in the Department of Psychiatry at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, one of the nation’s top 25 hospitals. I am a Fellow of the American Academy of Doctors of Psychology, and a member of the American and Michigan Psychological Associations as well as the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council. I have worked in many different settings over the course of my career, including several inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospitals and facilities, State correctional facilities, surgery department, and the Michigan Department of Mental Health.
