Introduction

I have a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University. I have 19 years of experience in clinical settings, such as universities, hospitals, corrections, health departments, substance use treatment, and private practice. I have been licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) by the state of Illinois licensing boards for 14 years and certified as an approved clinical supervisor (ACS) since 2016. In addition, I have provided supervision and training to master and doctoral trainees for nine years. Areas of expertise and interest are depression, anxiety, interpersonal violence, grief and loss, relational concerns, group therapy, multicultural concerns, substance use, training and supervision. My theoretical approach is integrative using Solution-focused, Client-Centered, and Emotion Focused therapies. I am theoretically invested in helping clients believe in their potential. I work with clients to help them develop and redefine themselves to make life-changing decisions based on their self-definitions. At any time, you may initiate with me a discussion of possible positive or negative effects of continuing or discontinuing counseling; I expect you to benefit from counseling. However, I cannot guarantee any specific results. Counseling is a personal exploration that may lead to significant changes in your life perspectives and decisions. These changes may affect your meaningful relationships, job, and understanding of yourself. You may feel troubled, usually only temporarily, by some of the things you learn about yourself or some of the changes you make. In addition, counseling can result in long-lasting effects. For example, one risk of couple counseling is the possibility that the marriage may end. Although the exact number of changes resulting from counseling cannot be predicted, I intend to work with you to achieve the best possible results for you. I am happy to answer any questions about the services I provide. I look forward to hearing from you!
