Introduction

Welcome to my private practice at Nest Psychological Services based in California. Nest Psychological Services warmly welcomes you to a safe, comfortable, and nurturing space to be heard and "held", and facilitate some of the changes you may be seeking whether it is grieving losses, finding relief and comfort, deepening insights, and/or building confidence to achieve your goals. Dr. Fukiko Shibahara is a licensed clinical psychologist and holds a Doctor of Psychology degree, Psy.D., in Clinical Psychology from the APA-accredited California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco campus. Before she began her doctoral training, she worked at a State-funded nonprofit program and a 24hour shelter, where she met over 300 children in a year, needing a safe "home"-whether it is in their original attachment relationships. Dr. Shibahara had committed her last 16 years of her life in California, including predoctoral and postdoctoral training and research, to listening to diverse walks of lives, learning through and co-experiencing complexities of life, such as birth to death and dying, and offering ongoing mental health care to individuals of all ages. My specialty includes and is not limited to the following: Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, Pediatric/Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Relationship and Intimacy Issues, Parenting and Maternal Mental Health. Many of my clients have experienced at least one form of trauma and loss, whether it is sexual, relational, physical, emotional, or verbal in nature, and I offer a safe space to explore and understand its impacts on their day-to-day challenges, while building collaborative therapeutic alliances and relationships and highlighting a resiliency in each one of my clients. Individuals of all and diverse backgrounds are welcome. Multiculturalism, cultural competency and humility, respect, and being authentic and unique are some of the core values at Nest Psychological Services. Please don't hesitate to reach me. I look forward to meeting you and working with you. Dr. Fukiko Shibahara
