Dr. Heather Ann O’Brien is a licensed psychologist in Washington and member of PSYPACT who specializes in psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment practices. Her interest in psychology led to the completion of advanced degrees from CACREP-accredited and APA-accredited programs; a pre-doctoral internship at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veteran Affairs Medical Center, with rotations on inpatient psychiatry, PTSD clinical teams, and a women’s residential substance use treatment program; a certification in reproductive mental health; and continuing education and training in neuropsychological assessment. She spent the first six years of her career serving within the Department of Defense healthcare system, treating service members and veterans with co-occurring mental health disorders. As a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, she saw patients in a large mental health clinic and served as director of integrated behavioral health services in primary care and internal medicine. Dr. O’Brien went on to work for the United States Navy’s largest residential substance use treatment program and facilitated multiple process improvement projects related to suicide prevention, treatment, and risk management. After relocating to Seattle and fulfilling her desire to integrate behavioral health services in an obstetrics and gynecology clinic, she began attending to her growing desire to advance the health and well-being of medical professionals through her work with the Washington Physicians Health Program. Dr. O’Brien is a professional member of the American Psychological Association, Washington Psychological Association, American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s Mental Health Professional Group, and Federation of State Physician Health Programs. Dr. O'Brien's approach emphasizes individualized care in a supportive and collaborative environment. She is skilled in delivering evidence-based treatments and offers a variety of assessment packages that can be customized to provide depth-oriented insight and recommendations to improve your well-being.
