Kathryn Lawing, Ph.D. operates a comprehensive dual-specialty psychology practice, with clinical and forensic psychological services offered to older adolescents and adults. Dr. Lawing utilizes her psychological education, training, and expertise to provide objective and accurate opinions in legal proceedings. She offers case consultations and influential forensic expert testimony for a variety of civil and criminal matters. With 15 years of experience, Dr. Lawing provides her specialty psychological services in the two states in which she is licensed: Louisiana and Colorado, as well as across the nation in participating PSYPACT states. Dr. Lawing is an adjunct faculty member at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, serves as a consultant to multiple agencies and police departments, and has held government contracts for psychological evaluations of law enforcement candidates, fire recruits, juvenile detention, and grounds patrol candidates. Having a heavy research emphasis during her doctoral studies, Dr. Lawing authored numerous peer-reviewed, scientific journal articles and has presented at academic conferences in the areas of juvenile justice, treatment of youthful offenders, and violence risk assessment. Following her doctorate, Dr. Lawing completed a two year post doctoral fellowship at a clinical, forensic and neuropsychological corporation wherein she received specialty training in the areas of forensic evaluations and psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. Staying in tune with and committed to her community, Dr. Lawing has held various positions at local community mental health clinics, including those with a focus on family medicine and behavioral health. Dr. Lawing is a certified sex therapist with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT), the premier organization that certifies sexual health providers based on rigorous education, training, and practice standards. Dr. Lawing received her interjurisdictional practice certificate, temporary authorization to practice, and certificate of professional qualification (CPQ) from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards.
