Introduction

Dr. LaShawn Gooden, a military veteran, obtained her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota and completed an APA accredited internship with the United States Navy. She is PSYPACT certified and able to conduct telehealth sessions in 42 states. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University (MD). Areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, couples therapy, multicultural concerns, LGBTQ+ concerns, and identity. Dr. Gooden's approach to therapy integrates multicultural orientation with cognitive behavioral approaches to assist clients in living their best lives by working towards change and growth, as well as supplying them with tools to help them understand how to effectively navigate through their lives. Clients can expect to feel seen, heard and valued both during and after sessions with Dr. Gooden. They can expect to have gain insight and awareness into their problems, and feel empowered to make changes in their lives. *I do not currently accept insurance for couple's counseling, and I am unable to accept insurance for out of state clients, except as listed.
