Introduction

Over the last 20 years, I have had the privilege of providing therapy to individuals with a variety of issues, strengths, growth areas, and personalities. You are the expert on your life, and I am an expert in looking for patterns and teaching coping strategies. My approach is eclectic. I often use cognitive behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral (DBT), person-centered, solution-focused, and mindfulness-based interventions. As a PSYPACT Provider, I can provide teletherapy to individuals located in 41 states (listed below). I tailor therapy to meet the unique needs of each client. To help you decide if I am a good match for your therapy needs, please watch my "Mental Health - Thoughts Feelings Behaviors" video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MppCYqZp1o8). Even if we do not get a chance to work together I hope you find the information in the video helpful. LuAnn Helms, Ph.D., LP, HSP-P, PSYPACT Licensed Psychologist since 2004 Ph.D. Texas A&M University Doctoral Internship University of Oregon M.S. California State University Sacramento University of Pennsylvania Resilience Program Trainer If you watched the video and decided you would like to work with me, please read the information below before scheduling an appointment. Therapy is an investment in your mental health and personal development. It is very important that what I provide and what you want/need is a good match. To help you make an informed decision about working with me, below are a few limitations you should know about my private practice. I hope this information is helpful. I only provide sessions over video and on Friday nights and Saturday days. You must be over 18 years of age and be physically located in one of the following states during the session: AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY. I will not be available for last-minute sessions. If you have frequent suicidal thoughts or urges, have attempted suicide, or been hospitalized for a mental health concern, in-person therapy and more frequent/intensive treatment than I offer is recommended. I charge $180 a session (including initial consultation sessions). I do not take insurance and do not have a sliding scale. During the week I work at UNCW. To avoid dual role relationships, I will not see current UNCW students, employees, or parents of current students in my private practice. If you agree to the limits above and would like to schedule an initial consultation session, please click on "Request Appointment". I look forward to meeting you, LuAnn
