Dr. Maria Jose Soong, owner and clinician of PsychServ of South Florida, is a bilingual school psychologist with 15+ years of experience who specializes in psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Soong holds an Ed.S. degree in School Psychology and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Central FL and is a Licensed School Psychologist in Florida under Florida Statutes Chapter 490. Psychological evaluation is a process that starts with a combination of a review of records, interviews, and completion of written questionnaires, typically through telehealth sessions. In-person one-on-one appointments are scheduled with the child, adolescent, or young adult client for direct evaluation using a variety of standardized and qualitative measures. Depending upon the individual concerns and questions to be answered by the evaluation, testing may include measures of: Intellectual Functioning, Cognitive Processing Abilities, Academic Achievement, Attention and Executive Functioning, Adaptive Functioning, Behavioral and Social-Emotional Functioning. We can identify suspected conditions and highlight your child's needs and strengths. You will receive a detailed written report and personalized guidance on how this information links to educational and community supports as needed. Counseling services are also available to address a variety of topics, such as developing executive functioning skills, emotional regulation, and social skills.
