She incorporates Relational-Cultural Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into her work with clients. She is currently studying to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. With over twenty years of experience as a professor of counseling and clinician, she offers in-person counseling and consultation services in Jacksonville (Riverside) and virtual services throughout Florida. Her professional counseling experiences include college counseling centers and community agencies in Northeast Florida, and she's held university counseling faculty appointments in Florida since 2006. Practice Focus: Our greatest strength and resource in life is our ability to connect with ourselves and others. When disconnections inevitably occur, sometimes we need counseling support to help us reconnect by integrating and making meaning of life’s events, prioritizing and clarifying our needs, recognizing patterns that are not beneficial, and developing skills to understand ourselves and regulate our nervous system. Physical, emotional, and sexual symptoms of perimenopause and menopause--sleep disturbances, hot flashes, night sweats, irritability and mood changes, brain fog, decreased libido, joint pain, among others--can make developmental changes at midlife--parenting, caretaking aging parents, career decisions, relationship dynamics--more challenging. The physical changes are only part of the picture. The menopausal transition is a time of evolution and potential transformation of your life story-not simply a set of biological changes. These are the kinds of questions that strike a chord with Midwell clients: Are you wearing badges of productivity but struggling with meaning? Do you feel too much of your energy is spent striving for approval versus authenticity? Do you notice yourself in patterns of overfunctioning and people pleasing that leave you feeling resentful, anxious, exhausted or depressed? Are you curious about how to reconnect with your desires and sense of self after years of caretaking, parenting, and/or career advancement? Are your menopause symptoms derailing you from enjoying life? Have you gone on menopause hormone therapy and now have energy to examine personal, relational, or career patterns but don't know where to start? The midlife transition is a developmental chapter that requires support, knowledge, compassion, care, and grit to navigate. There is a natural biopsychosocial process underway with potential to create positive, empowering, and lasting change. Midwell was created to consider each aspect of wellness and explore your feelings and experiences in a safe, understanding space while working on a collaborative, comprehensive plan to support your wellness. Practice Information: Midwell is a self-pay counseling and consultation practice. Although Midwell is not “in-network” with any insurance companies, some insurance plans will allow you to utilize “out of network” benefits by submitting your bill for reimbursement. If this is the case, the practice will provide you with a “super bill” (a receipt specifically prepared and coded for insurance companies) to submit to your insurance and request reimbursement. To find out how your out of network insurance benefits could apply to Midwell services, please contact your insurance provider. Please note, if you submit a superbill to your insurance, providing a diagnosis is a requirement, which will be discussed prior to submission. Payment can be made with a credit card, debit card, HSA, or FSA card. An active card on file in the secure client online portal is required to receive services.
