As a counselor, it is my job to work together with you to find the best path forward. I provide a safe and compassionate space for you to share your story and together we will work to find a solution. By forming a strong therapeutic relationship, we can build trust and begin to create the life that you envision for yourself. Before earning my M.E. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of William & Mary, I was an infantryman in the U.S. Army and then a photojournalist for more than 20 years. While working in those fields, I saw firsthand how trauma impacted people’s lives and decided to take a more active role in helping those affected by it heal from their psychic wounds. I began working with clients who experienced trauma and addiction in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Feelings of guilt, shame, fear, anger, anxiety, and depression are normal reactions to these issues and they can be overcome. You already have all the tools you need within yourself to find solutions to these problems. It’s my job to help you locate these tools and use them. The skills you learn in counseling will not only help you overcome your current difficulties but leave you better prepared to face any future challenges. I work with individual clients, couples, and in group settings. All beliefs and backgrounds are welcome. I believe in taking a holistic and client-centered approach and believe that therapy should meet the client’s individual and unique needs. The relationship between the counselor and client is a special one and I would be honored to have the opportunity to earn your trust and walk beside you as you break through the barriers that are preventing you from living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life.
