Welcome- I'm Elise Watts a social worker, a therapist, an outdoor enthusiast, a community collaborator, and at my core a human just like all of you. Foundationally, I believe ALL humans are worthy. Worthy of dignity, respect, love, and community. I operate from an understanding that humans are wired for connection not only with other humans, but with themselves. My journey in social work started working in a homeless shelter where I witnessed the power of systemic inadequacies along with the effects of trauma on not only those experiencing homelessness, but the first responders and staff working tirelessly to provide services. I've worked with clients who are living with unhealed trauma, burnout, shame, depression, suicidality and anxiety. Those who have been deeply harmed by loved ones, work places, and their community, along with those individuals who have done the harming. Sometimes the thing we need most is for someone to hold space while we speak to the scariest parts of ourselves. Let me hold that space to allow healing to begin. Nothing is "too much" to be worked through in a therapeutic setting. I know reaching out feels risky and maybe therapy even seems silly and yet you are here on this page already weighing that risk. I hope you can find the strength to make the call or send the email. This action alone is one of the greatest steps towards the relief you are looking for.
