People often come to therapy when faced with something new or really hard. You may be seeking a greater sense of peace, fulfillment, or contentedness in your life. You may be looking to process traumatic life events or explore and express LGBTQIA+ identity. Whatever your reason for seeking out therapy, you deserve a dedicated space to be heard, process your experience, and gain support in your journey. My approach to therapy pulls from eclectic theories and ideas. I am a person-centered, strengths-based therapist. This means that you, your individual needs, and your unique strengths will be a focal point and guiding force of our work together. Working from a trauma-informed lens is essential in all areas of my practice and you can expect that your life experiences will be explored in a thoughtful, compassionate, and respectful manner. I believe that you are the expert about your own feelings and experiences and I am here to offer support, guidance, and tools. Dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression are directly tied to mental health and examining these themes from a Liberation Health perspective can illuminate how these factors have impacted your life experiences. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have the lived experience to understand the significance of community and chosen family, the challenges of discrimination and bias, the nuances of coming out, and the power of validation and acceptance. Working to directly serve my community by supporting mental health for other LGBTQIA+ folks is deeply significant to me. Trans lives matter. I am a strong supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement and strive to have open and thoughtful conversations about the impact of racism on life experiences and mental health. Black lives matter. I understand the damaging impact of fatphobia and practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective. I am poly/ENM/kinky/queer affirming and actively welcome clients to bring these themes of their life experiences into therapy. I particularly specialize in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, people with trauma histories, adolescents, and adults under the age of 40.
