Introduction

Hi, I'm Elsa Mendez, a bilingual Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Washington, DC. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University and my master’s in social work from the Catholic University of America. My expertise includes working with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I utilize therapeutic approaches such as task-centered model therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and solution-focused therapy. I work with a variety of mental health disorders in different settings such as in the community, home, school, transitional living, etc. I have worked with a variety of individuals, including college students—both during their academic journey and as they navigate the transitions of college life and the shift into adulthood after graduation. Additionally, I have experience working with first and second generations as well as eldest daughter syndrome. Cultural competency is an essential part of my practice. I have had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from various countries outside the U.S. I strive to create an environment of understanding and respect. My goal is to offer a safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive space where you can embark on a journey of healing, self-discovery, and growth. Whether you are the stressed-out college student, child of immigrants, someone navigating change or someone who wants to work on themselves, I'm here to help.
