Saludos! My name is Emely Tobar, my pronouns are She/Her/Ella, and I am a dedicated Bilingual Spanish-speaking clinician committed to practicing within a decolonial therapy and abolitionist social work framework. As a first-gen from Los Angeles (Unceded territory of the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash Peoples) and the daughter of Central American immigrants, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, deeply understanding the complexities and challenges of navigating diverse social and cultural landscapes. Being the daughter of Central American immigrants, I have a deep appreciation for the cultural richness and resilience inherent in immigrant communities. My familyโ€™s experiences have shaped my understanding of the unique challenges faced by immigrants and firstโ€“generation individuals, inspiring my commitment to breaking down barriers and advocating for systemic change. Growing up and working in a vibrant and diverse community, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of systemic inequalities and the resilience of those who face them. These experiences, coupled with my own familyโ€™s journey, have fueled my passion for advocating for marginalized voices and ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard, and valued in therapy. With 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I have had the privilege of working extensively with children K-12,TAY, adults, elder folks, and overall BIPOC, and immigrant communities. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and in my practice, I employ a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes helping clients heal from the effects of systemic oppression/racism. My work is grounded in empathy, respect, and a steadfast commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients. I strive to deconstruct traditional power dynamics in therapy, honoring the diverse identities and experiences of my clients. My approach is holistic and client-centered, emphasizing empowerment and collaboration in the healing journey. Understanding the importance of intersectionality, I am dedicated to addressing issues related to race, gender, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. In my practice, I use anti-oppressive interventions and strategies, as well as trauma-informed coping skills.ย  I consider flexibility to be a crucial element of the therapeutic process. To support your evolving needs, preferred learning styles, and goals, I will incorporate various therapeutic approaches within my scope of practice and competence. I am committed to making therapy accessible and affirming for everyone. I look forward to working together with my clients to foster healing, growth, and empowerment. โ€œRarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.โ€ -bell hooks
