Emily has 25 years experience in the mental health field. She began her career working in child welfare at The Methodist Home for Children & Youth where she was the director of the therapeutic foster care and adoption programs. In 2003, she transitioned to Coliseum Psychiatric Center, developing the Chemical Dependency Partial Hospitalization Program. Over the years as coordinator of the program, she developed a Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program and a Chemical Dependency and Psychiatric Intensive Outpatient Program. After 15 years at Coliseum (which is now Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health), she decided to concentrate in private practice, using her years of expertise to help people in the outpatient setting. Emily's specialities are Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Substance Abuse. Emily uses a direct Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach with a strong component of mindfulness for all of her clients. However, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and/or Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) is utilized to treat OCD. Emily is a SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) provider for parents of anxious children. Emily is also a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCH) and can use hypnotherapy for clients who feel stuck or have difficulty with emotional expressiveness. Emily received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree at Mercer University, double majoring in Psychology and Program in Service Learning (Human Services), and her Master of Science degree in Applied Psychology at Georgia College & State University. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001. She is a professional member of the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LCPA) and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Emily is also a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), providing supervision and consultation for other therapists in the area. Emily has two young adult sons. She is a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, where she serves on the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and volunteers at Macon Outreach. She is also a former board member and continued supporter of Macon Little Theatre.
