Hello! My name is Emily Remmer, and I am a National Certified Counselor and Phase 1 Brainspotter in Kenai, Alaska. I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University. In my counseling career, I have worked with a wide array of clients of various ages, races, ethnic backgrounds, religious beliefs, and socio-economic status. I am open to working with anyone, but my passion is for helping those who have experienced trauma. Whether it was long ago, or a recent traumatic experience, my heart is in helping my clients process and heal. In therapy, I primarily use a person-centered approach, and treat all my clients with genuineness, empathy, and respect. I believe that every person has unique needs, and there is not a one-size-fits-all solution. I have completed Phase 1 training for Brainspotting which is a powerful treatment used to identify, process, and release stored traumas. I was born and raised on the Kenai Peninsula, and I have spent the vast majority of my life living in Alaska - leaving only for a brief, two-year stint in Nebraska. I live in Kenai with my family. I am navigating the joys and struggles of simultaneously parenting teenagers and a toddler. I enjoy coffee, chocolate, home improvement projects, reading, trivia, sitcoms, and humor.
