You have taken this first, courageous step in looking for someone to share your story with. Making the decision to be vulnerable and engage in therapy is not an easy one and finding the best fit with a therapist can feel like a daunting task. I view the therapeutic relationship as a collaboration. As humans, we feed off of connection and shared experiences. It is important to know that you are not alone. The first time you feel like you are no longer in control can be terrifying or devastating. Whether it is aging, a loss, a trauma or any other life event, change is inevitable. We cannot control everything we experience and the events that occur in our life but we can manage our reactions and the impact it has.
