I'm Emma Demar, LCSW, a modern and progressive therapist who believes that therapy is more than a trend. With more than seven years of experience working in private practice, I'm extremely passionate about helping people live their most authentic lives. My book, "The Truth Teller," explores the power of doing the inner work and of how transformative it is to face your shadow in order to stand in your light. While I am trained in and utilize psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, and am currently getting my RO-DBT certification, I like to tailor my treatment to the individual sitting before me. After all, we are all unique individuals, and ought to be treated as such. Like all human beings, I pull from my own life experiences in terms of my overall perspective. What led me to become a therapist originally was my battle with Anorexia Nervosa when I was in High School and the treatment I received that aided me in my recovery. I specialize in working with individuals with Eating Disorders, OCD and other forms of Anxiety, life transitions, new motherhood, family dynamics, and a favorite of mine: someone who is simply interested in learning more about themselves. Anyone and everyone can benefit from therapy. A few fun facts: I was on Gossip Girl (season 1, the pink minion, Elyse), am passionate about the Enneagram (a personality typing system - check it out), I'm a new mommy, have my B.A. in Creative Writing, and host of "The Truth Teller" podcast. I can't wait to work with you.
