Introduction

Same Boat Healing is a therapy practice that supports clients shoulder-to-shoulder and face-to-face. The idea that we are all sharing the "same boat" signifies that we don't have to face our struggles alone. My name is Emma Jones, as a licensed clinical social worker, I like to empower your own natural capacity for healing. My main focus areas are complex trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, emerging adulthood, and relational challenges. The approaches I use most are acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness practices. I am trained in other modalities and would be happy to work with you on your individual needs. I enjoy working with clients who have been in therapy for years and haven't seen results or are brand new to therapy (and maybe a little skeptical). Most of all, I work best with clients who are open to trying new things and come ready to share their questions and reservations. Being a therapist wasn't my first plan, I wanted to be a sea captain (that's not a joke, I'm happy to explain). During the pandemic when boating wasn't an option, I decided to get a master's degree in social work to serve my community. I found a meaningful fit in therapy that puts to use my best strengths as a curious and compassionate listener.
