Introduction

Dr. Erica Kanewischer is a Couple and Family Therapist specializing in couples and marriage counseling. She works with couples around relationship struggles, communication problems, affairs, stress and divorce decision making. Dr. Kanewischer also specializes in working with helping professionals dealing with stress, compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress and burnout, Discernment Counseling and Premarital Counseling. She has been working in clinical settings for 20 years and has an array of experience with youth, adults, individuals, couples and families. Dr. Kanewischer assists clients in gaining insight into their experiences, finding new ways to cope with stressors and gain new skills. She draws from Experiential Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Dr. Kanewischer received her Master's degree from Seattle Pacific University and her PhD from the University of Minnesota. She has also taught at several local Universities and Colleges in undergraduate and graduate programs as well as worked as the Chief Operating Officer for a nation-wide Employee Assistance Program. Dr. Kanewischer is an approved supervisor and currently the Director of the Family Studies Concentration at St. Olaf College and Chair of the Social Work and Family Studies Department.
