My clients tend to be introspective people who are looking to work through past or ongoing life complexities, such as those related to identity, personality, relationships or life stages and changes. Sessions can be explorative or practical, reflective or pragmatic, more conversational or more structured - all depending on the particular client, their unique circumstances, and their own intentions and motivations in seeking a therapist. Exploring the past or probing painful events is undertaken when it is mutually understood to be desirable, and only to the extent that it is helpful; never for its own sake. My practice, first and foremost, seeks to provide clarity - both clarity in whatever life complexities motivated the person to seek a therapist, and clarity in the process, goals, and scope of the therapy itself. Together, we develop a plan for our ongoing work that is suited to the individual and their situation. Seeking a therapist isn't always about 'going for therapy' or 'getting treatment.' People with or without any particular mental health disorder or crisis frequently seek out therapists to listen, counsel, or otherwise clarify whatever may be on the person's mind. Please reach out if you have any questions about my practice or to schedule an appointment.
