I believe each and every person who bravely embraces therapy is capable of living an enjoyable life. I will meet you where you are, work to establish a relationship with you, and together we will create treatment goals that build on the strengths you already have to find balance and wellness. I have followed many paths to get to where I am today. Passionate about mental health and the power of the human mind, I began my undergraduate career at Boston University studying Psychology. After graduating, I served in the U.S. Navy for seven years on Active Duty, and found myself counseling Sailors who were struggling with life at sea. I enjoyed this aspect of my time in the Navy so much that I decided to pursue my Master of Social Work at Boston College. As a clinical intern at Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard's Teaching Hospital, I found a passion for working with teens while working in a health clinic that was integrated with a nearby high school. I specialize in treating school-based behavioral issues, adolescent depression and anxiety, LGBTQNIA identity exploration and affirmation, adoptive/blended families, and trauma. I believe that even young teenagers can learn important skills that will support them in living healthy adult lives. In treating adolescents, I also provide guidance to their caregivers, to support the entire family in raising their children. This approach ensures that the family is included as a crucial part of the treatment team. After having my three children, I also began to explore the area of maternal health and the mental health of birthing people on their perinatal journey. Physical and mental health are inextricably connected, and a woman's/birthing person's emotional functioning may be impacted by unique health issues, such as infertility, miscarriage, and labor/birth trauma. As a trained birth doula and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician (PMH-C), I have enhanced knowledge that informs my clinical care. The foundation of my practice is psychodynamic psychotherapy, into which I weave elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I believe mindful self-compassion offers us the key to healing. I look forward to working with you to heal your body and your mind. You are capable and I believe in your strength to do the work.
