I utilize an integrative approach that addresses your Body, Mind, Emotions, Energy & Spirit. Why include somatic therapy and hypnotherapy? Our bodies and nervous systems are where unconscious trauma is stored. Trauma isn’t an event that happened in the past. Until it’s resolved, trauma (even experiences you don’t consciously remember) lives in your nervous system and tissues and responds to stimuli in your environment as if the original trauma is happening in the here and now. The primal brain is the oldest part of the brain and is focused on basic body functions, such as breathing, balance, heart rate, and survival. The limbic brain is the emotional brain, and the cortex is responsible for higher thought and logical problem solving. Traditional talk therapy generally focuses on the cortical brain and changing thoughts and beliefs, but doesn’t get underneath those thoughts and beliefs to where the living trauma resides in your limbic & primal brain and nervous system. Somatic therapy and hypnotherapy engage the subconscious mind and nervous system to access and discharge trauma imprints from the nervous system, primal, and limbic brain to create integration between the three parts of the brain, nervous system, and body to increase proprioception, interoception, and a felt sense of safety, resourcing, and resilience. Benefits of somatic therapy and hypnotherapy include reduced physical, mental, and emotional discomfort and distress, a strengthened connection between the mind and body, and a felt sense of safety and well-being in your nervous system and body. Telltale signs of trauma include (but aren’t limited to): Physical - weight issues, body armoring, physical numbness and/or feeling out of body or disconnected from your body, chronic pain, hyper-sensitivity to sounds, chemicals, and other environmental stressors, sexual challenges, digestive issues, Fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders, chronic health challenges, and much more. Mental - self-doubt, diminished self-esteem, diminished decision-making ability, distorted perception of self and the world, self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviors, body image issues and body dysphoria, anxiety, repeating negative thought patterns, insomnia, hypersomnia Emotional - grief, depression, anxiety, apathy, shame, stress, eating disorders, emotional numbness, attachment issues (anxious, needy or avoidant behaviors), addictive behaviors, feelings of unworthiness, undeserving, not good enough / not enough Spiritual - existential crisis, feeling like you’re here for something unique to you but you can’t quite connect to your authentic self or life path Trauma Healing and Integration – Restoring Resiliency Traumatic events overwhelm your capacity to cope and negatively impact your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. This creates an imbalance in your nervous system and can cause you to get stuck in an overactive state of hyper-vigilance and anxiety or in a frozen / collapsed state where you feel numb or overwhelmed. Ongoing daily life stressors, when unmanaged, can have a similar impact on your nervous system. This can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, loss of motivation, emotional dysregulation, chronic illness, and chronic pain. Somatic psychotherapy, psychadelic assisted therapy and hypnotherapy provide the space and support necessary to release restrictive patterns in your nervous system and body to allow for greater flow and resiliency, increased capacity for improved sleep and digestion, alleviation of anxiety and pain, a felt sense of safety in your body, and the experience of greater sense of joy, freedom, vitality, and radiant aliveness.
