Introduction

H. Elizabeth Franklin is a licensed therapist who specializes in romantic and family relationships. All of her work is based on the belief that human beings are biologically wired for connection and live their best lives within the context of strong, close relationships. Research shows that secure attachments are integral to mental and physical well-being. She studies the science of love, adult attachment and healthy sexuality. Her therapeutic style is authentic, warm and curious. Elizabeth has a Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Services from John Brown University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to being a therapist, she is also a board approved clinical supervisor for LCSW candidates. Elizabeth worked as a therapist for nearly a decade at Family & Children’s Services in two programs: Family Strengthening Center (2011-2013) and Women in Recovery (2013-2020). She wrote and implemented curriculum for a new Healthy Sexuality class at WIR in 2015 and was honored to receive the Spotlight Award for this contribution. She feels passionate about reducing shame messages related to sex, empowering sexual beings in their truths and providing education in a safe, non-judgmental environment. Elizabeth has presented at the national and local level on topics related to trauma, sexuality, women’s health and attachment. Her specializations include couple and family relationships, sex, trauma, anxiety, depression and substance abuse. She is proud to be a nationally certified Cognitive Processing Therapist to treat PTSD. She has advanced training in one of the most effective couple therapy models, Emotionally Focused Therapy. Elizabeth is currently in the process of becoming a certified EFT therapist which requires routine supervision, consultation and higher education so she can provide the best treatment possible for couples wanting a stronger bond. Although most of her work is with couples, she also enjoys working with teenagers and their parent(s) who might be feeling stuck in a loop of disconnection and individual clients who want to improve their romantic life by attending therapy alone. As the clinical director, Elizabeth is committed to ensuring that our practice is providing the most effective clinical treatment to our clients, abiding by the highest level of ethical standards, and being up to date on the science of adult attachment. She believes therapists provide the best clinical skills within the context of a supportive work environment and is dedicated to fostering that at Stonebridge.
