I am Hailey Fitzpatrick, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every person carries within them the potential for recovery, no matter the depth of the wounds they have endured. When bad things happen, it can leave us feeling fractured, off-course, and disconnected from our own lives and the world around us. I know that you are striving to heal from challenges that life has thrown at you so that you can become the confident and authentic version of yourself. In order to heal you need to start with processing your emotions which means identifying how you feel so that your experience can be validated. In turn, this processing of emotions can help with finding coping skills to navigate the harmful experiences that have impacted your life. The problem is that you might be struggling to make even the smallest of decisions such as sending a work email that should take you 5 minutes but takes you 30 minutes because of self doubt and over-thinking. The word ‘no’ may not be in your vocabulary which can lead you to overextend yourself in personal relationships in an attempt to find a way to be worthy of other’s attention or love. Expressing how you feel may feel impossible because you’re waiting for the next person to disappoint or hurt you. Maybe you have been wanting to speak with your partner or family member about how you feel but you find yourself irritable the minute a deeper topic is brought up. You might be wondering why all of these things are happening to you and if you are “broken.” This can leave you feeling numb, helpless, anxious or depressed. I believe that we all deserve to thrive in this life, not only survive. I understand how difficult it can be to open up about experiences or feelings due to fear of judgment or the risk of being misunderstood. It can also be scary to revisit memories you’ve spent a lot of time hiding from. This is why my approach begins with creating an emotionally safe environment for you to start expressing yourself and exploring what you have been through. My professional experience as a therapist will help you understand your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. By understanding yourself better, you’ll be able to create new patterns that promote self compassion, increase your quality of life, and build stronger bonds with people you love and care about. With my trauma informed training, such as EMDR, and other evidence based modalities such as CBT and DBT, I have helped individuals overcome past trauma and find meaning in life that helps them live to their full potential.
