My approach comes from an underlying trust that when we slow down and listen to the body, heart, and mind, we will find what we need to take that next step toward greater freedom in our relationships and our lives. My intention is to create a space where you can befriend yourself and your life, and in so doing, open up new avenues of healing, creativity and energy. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2000, I have over 25 years of experience working in clinical and community settings with individuals and groups. I completed a three-year training with the Somatic Experiencing Institute and am a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Somatic Experiencing is a body-based, organic approach to trauma healing. I am a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instructor with the Centre for Mindfulness Studies. I facilitate mindfulness meditation and embodied racial justice groups with the UW Health Mindfulness Program and the YWCA Race and Gender Equity Team. I'm a parent and partner, and love to hike, write, and create. I'm offering in-person sessions in Madison, Wisconsin. My practice is currently full with a waitlist. I also offer an in-person Somatic Practice class. This series of seven, hour-long classes integrate somatic awareness and mindfulness skills that support day-to-day resilience, and the gentle untangling of stress patterns as they show up in the body. The next session runs from January 24th to March 7, Fridays from 1:30pm-2:30pm. Registration is required. Contact me for more information.
