Introduction

🌿ABOUT HEATHER🌿 Heather is a nationally certified licensed professional counselor in the state of Wyoming and is a certified perinatal mental health practitioner. Heather specializes in women’s mental health and perinatal mental health. She helps women through all phases of life to find balance and wellness, gain clarity and gain confidence, and become their most authentic empowered selves with no apologies! Heather brings a humanistic and communicative style to her counseling approach, bringing warmth, humor, and comfort into sessions. She provides a judgment free zone that is about empowering you, providing you the space and support to reclaim your sense of worth, make choices aligned with your highest values, and to build a life and relationships that genuinely fulfill you. 🌿MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH🌿 You may have heard of the “baby blues,” which is changes in mood for a brief time as you adjust to motherhood. It is important to know that if these feelings are intense and last longer than the first two weeks after giving birth it is not the “baby blues.” Up to 1 in 5 moms will experience a Perinatal Mood and/or Anxiety Disorder during pregnancy or the first year after childbirth, making these disorders the most common complication of childbirth. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders include postpartum depression, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and in rare cases bipolar disorder and psychosis. These disorders should not go untreated, unfortunately, moms often go unscreened and suffer in silence due to societal stigma, shame, fear, and lack of knowledge of maternal mental health resources available to them. It is important to know that you are not alone. 🌿PERINATAL RESOURCES🌿 Postpartum Support International has more information about PMADs and support that is available to you.
