As humans, we are adaptable and intelligent. We change to better fit our circumstances and survive. What can impede this change is a lack of hope. We don’t believe we can change. Painful experiences can imprint on the brain and alter our perspective of our strength and ability. Yet our largest impediment to change is often being unseen and not validated for who we are. I communicate to clients that I can go into the dark with them and show them their dark place is worth being seen and heard. We can find meaning of pain together and see it as more than a barrier. Movement towards goals increases as we build a strong relationship. My therapy approaches are rooted in person-centered theories. I offer genuineness and acceptance. Therapy is a safe place to be present with no additional expectations. I specialize in working with addictions. I also focus on providing trauma-informed care for LGBTQ+ folks. I work with body image and disordered eating concerns. I'm a social justice advocate. At the core of my belief system is the idea that we need each other. We can see that a better way exists when we connect with the lives around us. We don't escape our circumstances necessarily, but we learn to find the travelers who make our journey richer and deeper. I hope to be a traveler in your journey.
