About Me Welcome! I’m Jackie, and I’m glad you’re here. As a Licensed Resident in Counseling, I am passionate about guiding couples and perinatal clients through some of life’s most significant transitions. I create a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals and couples to explore their unique experiences, emotions, and challenges. My Approach Specializing in couples therapy and perinatal mental health, I understand that the journey of love and parenthood can be both beautiful and complex. I employ a systems approach in my therapy, exploring how beliefs, actions, and expectations are intertwined and influence our perceptions of the world. By fostering awareness of these inner systems, clients can gain valuable insights that spark meaningful change. Whether you are navigating relationship dynamics, adjusting to new parental roles, or managing the emotional challenges of pregnancy and postpartum life, I am here to support you every step of the way. For expectant and new parents facing challenges such as infertility, pregnancy loss, or welcoming a new child, I offer a compassionate space to address your concerns. Recognizing that parenting is not a one-size-fits-all experience, I tailor my approach to focus on your unique needs in each session. With over a year of experience working with perinatal clients and currently pursuing my Perinatal Mental Health Certificate (PMH-C), I am committed to supporting both mothers and fathers through this transformative journey. For couples seeking to enhance or repair their relationships, I provide guidance on effective communication and constructive conflict resolution. While marriage often begins with the excitement of a "fairy tale," the reality can be challenging. Many couples find they were never taught how to navigate conflict constructively, leading to misaligned expectations and feelings of isolation. As a Level 2 Gottman Method-trained therapist, I am equipped to address trauma and infidelity in relationships, and I believe in the importance of education in couples counseling to empower partners to tackle future challenges together. Background and Experience After over a decade as an educator and school counselor, I embraced the journey of motherhood. While I was excited about having a baby, I encountered anxiety and significant emotional upheaval as I navigated my new identity as a mother. This experience highlighted the complex challenges of parenting, motivating me to return to school and earn a Certificate in Clinical Mental Health to support others during this vulnerable time. My training has equipped me with specialized skills in working with couples and perinatal clients, enabling me to effectively address the unique challenges associated with these significant life events. I believe in the power of education as a vital component of therapy, using it to empower my clients with knowledge and strategies they can apply in their daily lives. I am dedicated to ongoing professional development, participating in workshops and training that incorporate the latest research in relationships and perinatal mental health, ensuring that I provide the most informed and effective support. My Beliefs I firmly believe that every relationship has the potential for growth and healing. The transition into parenthood is a time of profound change, and it’s essential to honor the emotional aspects of this journey. I strive to create a welcoming and empathetic space where you can express your feelings freely, gain insight, and develop strategies to enhance your well-being.
