I’m Jameela Muhammad, Owner of The Melanated Therapist. I am multi-racial and identify as she/her. My approach to counseling is to promote a safe space for BIPOC children and families who are wanting to heal and disrupt generational patterns that have been normalized within the community. My mission is providing a nonjudgmental and empathetic space of healing. I’ll introduce and utilize tools to enhance personal strengths and unpack areas of growth. I utilize a variety of contextual, intersectional, and cross-cultural techniques to maintain a holistic wellness point of view. I am experienced in working with children, families, LGBTQ+ and interpersonal relationships. As a Black therapist I specialize in minority mental health however, I provide a safe space for all to heal and gain interpersonal insights and skills. I believe in empowered healing and a solution-based approach that is collaborative in the change process. I incorporate various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness to help clients reach their goals. I have over 10 years’ experience working in the social worker field with people of all ages and racial backgrounds. I am passionate about working in this field and with you as a person.
