I have been an elementary school counselor and social worker for 15 years total as well as worked in trauma-related non-profit agencies providing support to underrepresented minority populations for over 32 years. I have an extensive background working with children and families who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, behavior issues, school challenges including avoidance, learning difficulties, gifted and talented, neurodiversity, LBGTQIA+, and more. I focus on emotional literacy and regulation, mindfulness, and building self-esteem while giving kids a toolbox full of skills they can use for the rest of their life throughout inevitable ups and downs. I work with children and adolescents through an "out-of-the box" lens with a compassionate, strengths-based, relationship-first approach to help them achieve their goals or to simply give a safe space to talk. My office is fun! We color, walk, bounce, squeeze putty, pop fidgits, chew gum, look at cool rocks, squeeze stuffies, or just sit, whatever makes you comfortable. You can take your shoes off, curl up on the couch, eat a snack, or we can go for a walk by the creek. Sitting can be hard when you've been in school all day! I am delighted to meet you and discuss how you begin to feel better, even if you are not sure what that means. This is a judgement-free zone and you have gifts inside that are waiting for you to discover. Let's find them together!
