Introduction

Welcome to Insightful Heart Counseling, I am Jen and I am so glad you are here. Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I approach counseling with individuals from a personal holistic viewpoint in hopes of better understanding your world. I believe in promoting your right to autonomy, self-acceptance, and to feel genuine in your experiences and connections with others. My hope as a counselor is to meet you where you are at and provide support for your journey, knowing that every connection made has the power to affect each of us and brings us the opportunity to make new meaning in our lives. I believe there is power in the unconditional support a counseling relationship can provide. In my own journey, I thought that going to counseling was a declaration of how broken I was, when it was actually a declaration of courage, shouting from the roof tops: I AM WORTHY of feeling and being better! I want you to know that YOU ARE WORTHY of feeling and being better too. I created Insightful Heart Counseling to be a trauma informed safe place for people to come to heal, to find healing, and insight. I use a variety of counseling skills and interventions in my work with my clients and tailor my approach to each person. I was trained in EMDR by the EMDR Institute and I am working on my certification. I use EMDR to help clients address and change their beliefs and perceptions about their experiences in hopes that we can improve present functioning. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and have received advance training in working with trauma and dissociation. I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Boise State University. If you have any questions or concerns don't be afraid to reach out I am happy to talk you through the process and help in whatever way I can.
