Jen Beno is currently working toward completion of her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from New Mexico Highlands University. She has also earned a BS in Psychology and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico. Her prior experience as an occupational therapist allowed her the opportunity to work with individuals toward improving quality of life and wellbeing using a holistic approach to physical, mental, and emotional development. Jen brings this holistic perspective into her counseling philosophy. Jen follows a humanistic and trauma-informed approach. She supports clients in their personal growth and healing process from a place of compassion, acceptance, and empathy. Jen guides clients in exploring their thoughts, feelings, and emotions while incorporating mindfulness, psychoeducation, and a strengths-based philosophy. Some of her areas of focus include lifespan development, identity, trauma, grief, anxiety, and navigating life transitions. Jen values meeting each of her clients exactly where they are, while honoring the wisdom each person brings from their diverse life experiences, cultural perspectives, and families of origin. She strives to create a safe and inclusive therapeutic space for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
