Introduction

I have a Masters of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from the University of Oregon. This program is certified by the Commission of Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. This education included coursework on couples therapy, family and child relationships, human sexuality, psychopathology, psychotherapy, systems theory, substance abuse counseling and group therapy. I believe that change happens when we feel comfortable enough to let go of the things that were helpful, but are no longer serving us. I help facilitate a space where my clients can explore their reactions and problems from a new perspective. I strive to help my clients increase their connection to their life and those around them. I believe in using all parts of self in the therapy work, including laughter, tears and everything in between. I work individuals that are 18 years or older at this time. I enjoy helping clients with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, infertility, perinatal mood disorders, motherhood and major life transitions. I use a trauma informed perspective to help clients understand how past pain and hurts impact our current decision making and coping skills. I work with clients on being able to understand and respect their process and vulnerability. I integrate: CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, Internal family systems, strategic therapy and emotion focused therapy. In addition to supporting more general concerns, I have a current clinical focus working with clients going through a significant transition in their life. This can look like going to college and leaving home for the first time, a change in a primary relationship, pregnancy and/or loss to name a few. I have done specific training in perinatal mental health and helping support female identified clients in the early stages of motherhood. Parenting can be a frenetic time of life and therapy can be a beneficial way to slow down and care for ourselves. Life is full of changes, both large and small and I believe that having a space to focus on the changes in identity and growth can be incredibly beneficial. I also have a passion in working with clients to address body image concerns and their relationship with food and exercise. I work from a healthy at any size model and work with clients to create a safe space to explore their relationship with food, culture and body image. I am a board approved supervisor through the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. I enjoy helping new clinicians just starting out and those looking for supervision of supervision. I believe my role as a supervisor is to help the supervisee find their own therapeutic style and voice. To help support them in gaining confidence in both clinical work and paperwork tasks.
