Hi! I’m Jennifer, a licensed marriage and family therapist based in Hutto, Texas. At Hutto Family Counseling, I’m passionate about helping kids, teens, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, creativity, and science-backed approaches. My work is rooted in relational neuroscience, which means I focus on how our brains and relationships interact. Together, we’ll explore how being in “connection mode” (where we feel safe and open) versus “protection mode” (where we feel defensive or overwhelmed) shapes our lives—and how we can move toward connection for deeper healing and growth. How I Do Therapy I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with the skills and resources their brain can access at any given moment. My goal is to help you tap into those resources, build new ones, and feel empowered in your journey. Here’s what therapy might look like with me: Internal Family Systems (IFS): We all have different “parts” within us—some that protect, some that feel vulnerable, and others that guide us. I love helping clients get to know these parts, see their value, and create harmony within themselves. Sandtray Therapy: Sometimes words aren’t enough. Using sandtray therapy, you can express feelings and experiences in a creative, nonverbal way. This approach is especially helpful for kids and teens, but people of all ages benefit from its power to uncover deeper truths. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): For those dealing with trauma or overwhelming memories, EMDR is a highly effective method to help your brain process and heal in a safe, structured way. Teaching Connection and Protection: I love working with kids and families to understand how their brains work, teaching practical tools to shift from protection mode to connection mode. These tools can transform how we relate to ourselves and each other. Who I Work With I work with kids, teens, adults, and families who want to feel more connected, manage tough emotions, or heal from past experiences. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, or family dynamics, I’m here to guide you with curiosity and compassion. I also work with foster/adoptive families. As a former foster parent and now adoptive mom, I can relate to the challenges and struggles of caring for children with trauma and super hard behaviors. If your family is struggling with big, baffling behaviors, chances are, my family has experienced the same or similar behaviors. My passion is for every family member to feel seen, heard, and accepted. Accessible Therapy for All I’m excited to share that I now accept some Medicaid insurance plans. Making therapy accessible to families in our community is important to me, and I’m here to help you navigate the process of getting started. Why Hutto Family Counseling? Here’s what makes my practice different: A focus on understanding and accepting all parts of yourself Practical brain-based tools for healing and connection Creative, hands-on approaches that go beyond talking A deep belief in your capacity to grow and thrive Ready to Begin?
